You guys ever just
Come back from a break, look at your tuba(s) , and just think "that's a really s*** horn"
I would put a good signature here, but i dont have one, so this will make do.

No.
It's more like "Well, the tuba didn't change, it's ME who sounds like s***."

Well if you look at tubas that way, just remember that you hold it in your lap and press it's buttons while you play it
Seriously though, I don't think of tubas that way. I think of them as more cute........like a pet. Something about the overall shape; they almost remind me of animals at times.

They most certainly sound like animals at times--wounded and/or flatulent animals.toobagrowl wrote:Well if you look at tubas that way, just remember that you hold it in your lap and press it's buttons while you play it![]()

Re: You guys ever just
I play an old beat-up Conn 12J.
It's really frustrating going from a Willson 2900 euphonium to this, but I play it surprisingly well, if I may say so myself. I like the horn for strolling gigs, but am borderline embarrassed to bring it to some more "serious" gigs.
But until I can afford a better horn, I have no choice but to avoid overblowing it, and honing my false tone range.

I’m more comfortable having a tuba in my lap than...well, lots of things.

Where I am in Queensland -about 100 miles from the coast it is only getting to about 100. Adelaide, in the south had about 116 today. Tim Buzbee, down in Melbourne would be noticing a BIG difference from Iceland with a lot of far in excess of 100 days and nights only getting down to 90's.

Well, ya'll's tubas may be female but mine is thoroughly male. And he doesn't get to sit in my lap, neither, because then I can't reach the kissing part. All farting noises are mine own fault because tubas just don't get much better than Bubba.
