Hey folks,
I need a gig bag for a tenor tuba. It has about a 12in bell and is about 27in long.
None of the standard gig bags that I've encountered will work.
I'm just curious if anybody has experience with the Altieri euphonium bags. Pro & con.
I don't remember having read any comments about them over the years. I've seen references to the tuba bags, but not the euphonium bags.
Thanks!

Proceed with care. They aren’t the company they used to be. I had to return a bag twice because it was sized incorrectly. Took about 10 weeks both times. It doesn’t make me happy to post this, because the first two bags I bought from them were great, but I won’t get fooled again.

How would you rate it, with regards to protection of the instrument?
Are you interested in selling the bag? Maybe we can talk about the dimensions.

Thanks!
I'm pretty convinced that the old Cronkhite bags were the best in terms of gig bag protection, but I don't know if you can get a custom sized bags anymore.
So I guess I was really asking how you think the Altieri euphonium bag protects, compared to other gig bags.

I had an Altieri bag for my first tuba. It was alright. Protection wasn't great, but it was a pretty tight fit. It took forever to actually get the bag. Around 2 months from the time I put in the order. Communication was a hit or miss. Did the bag do the job? Yes, absolutely. Was it the greatest gig bag I could've bought? Probably not, but when we buy dent bags we don't expect the protection of a hard case! I have no experience with the euphonium bags.

Cronkite does make custom bags. Talk to them they are great to work with.

I know Glenn always did custom designs, but do you know if the new folks are into that?

I have no experience with Altieri bags but the Miraphone gig bag should work. That’s the bag I use for my M5050 which has a 12.2” bell and a wider body than most other euphs. BUT, it’s a top loader which is the only feature I’m not crazy about. The padding is 1” thick and there’s a wood-like disk in the flap closure to help protect the bell. Two zipper pockets, large one for music folder and a smaller one for mpc, valve oil, etc.
Forgot to say, it’s blue, very blue.
