Hi all,

I've just got hold of a 15" bell B&H Imperial Eb. The only gig bag I've got spare is WAY too big, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any decent gig bags that would fit. I've been recommended to look at Miraphone ones, but the ones they have on their website are all for front action instruments, and they won't balance properly with a top action instrument in there. I'm also sure Cronchite would make me one, but I was hoping to spend less than that...

I can give a second on the Messina Covers. I'm currently ordering one (it's not here yet) but I've heard fantastic things about them. You get to choose your color and custom embroidery for no extra cost, the tuba bags are $395 plus shipping. If you can't spare a grand on a Cronkhite bag, these are definitely the way to go.

I'd considered getting a Miraphone bag, but for almost the same price (like $40 more?) I can get a bag that has my tuba's logo and custom colors.

Miraphone does make a top action Eb tuba, the M7000... but I think the bell is a lot bigger.

Personally, I like Gotz bags, custom made to order in Germany.

I recently purchased a GARD mid-suspension small tuba gig bag, model number 61-MSK, from Musicians Friend. It fits my 15" bell 1975 B & H Imperial Eb tuba perfectly. It is top loading, black synthetic finish (don't waste your $$$ on the leather model, the synthetic version is pretty robust) and I couldn't be happier with it. Check it out for yourself, but you could go crazy trying to source another type of bag for this horn. You will probably need to remove the mid-suspension belt for a better fit, but that won't compromise the protection offered by this sturdy gig bag.

I can't recommend the polish Lion Bags enough.

They are licensed as fmb's own brand but it is a Lion Bag
They have a range of bags suited for certain tuba brands.
If they don't have one premade that fits your tuba you can get a customized one by sending the measurements (it's of course a little more expensive than the premade ones)
I had to two custom gig bags made. They fit like a glove, very solid made and with good cushioning.

I payed about $390 including shipping from Germany to Denmark for each of my custom made gigbags

I have a 3+1 e flat tuba with an almost 17” bell. I use the Mirafone gig bag and just have to turn it around so that the front of the valve tubing is what lies against my back. I was originally concerned about doing so when I bought the gig bag but it more than protects the instrument (as best a gig bag can).
