Who are some of the unsung heroes of the tuba world that I should hear? Maybe some local jazzer guys that you know...or your personal favorite tuba buddy thats on their way to the top.

Definitely that street musician in Chicago who would play tuba outside the Symphony Center. I don't remember his name, but surely someone does - after all, how many street musicians play tuba?

You refer, of course, to Aaron Dodd. My office is one half block from the Symphony Center, and I have often heard the sound of tuba wafting through the air. He's a decent player and a nice guy.

There was some discussion about Aaron on the old TubeNet. Mr. Jacobs knew him and gave him some lessons and the CSO low brass bought him a new tuba when his was stolen a few years back. Brian Fredericksen seems to keep up with his activities

That's just how the Chestnut Brass got started in Philly, and Jay Krush is no slouch!

I've heard of him. Wasn't he in the Cherry Poppin' Daddies?
