Mouthpiece suggestion

First of all, let me note that I am not much of an equipment junkie. I try to find what works best for me in the price point I can afford, and then work with it. So I don't know what's out there in terms of equipment, really.

I just recently picked up a Kanstul 5/4 BBb for a really great price. I've been playing on a PT-48s mouthpiece for quite some time on my Conn 12J, and have been using it on my Kanstul since I got it. It sounds great.

I was called last minute for a dixieland gig last night, and brought the 12J. I thought since my Perantucci is now paired with the Kanstul, I should keep a mouthpiece with the Conn, or I'll forget it. The only one that I can find in my place right now is a Bach 18, but I brought the Perantucci just in case the Bach wouldn't work for me.

The Bach sounded fine, but my chops seemed to tire out a lot faster. It might have been the playing, but I practice really hard for 3 solid hours daily (usually it's the only time I can block it off, so I'm forced to do it all then), so I don't think it's my own endurance. I switched back to the Perantucci and I felt better.

Any good pairings for the Conn, or should I just get another Perantucci? I'd just use the same mouthpiece on both horns, but knowing myself, I will forget it eventually.

My guess would be it's from the 80s-90s. I tried dating it, but Hornucopia and Conn Loyalist are saying 1920s. I can't imagine this horn is that old.

I would consult Robert Tucci and get an RT-series if you elect to get another Perantucci-type mouthpiece: The Perantucci mouthpieces currently available may or may not be made to the correct specifications.

I've got a recently-made PT-31 from Custom Music and it's of questionable quality.

Bloke's suggestion of a Conn 2 seems a lot more straightforward, and the Helleberg 7B is a close cousin and readily available.

I liked my Bach 12 but experienced the same problem.

I’m on an RT50 now and am looking for something just a little smaller...

7B being a similar mouthpiece with a flatter rim. That 12J might have come with a Conn 2 even if it's somewhat recent. I mean, not that I know anything about it, but we have a report of a 56J coming with a UMI 2-1792, which is reportedly the same thing with a cosmetically different outside shape. I don't think they make that any more, but it adds a few years to the Conn 2 era. The Conn 2 is a great mouthpiece.
