<tangential post>

Once - when I subbed for someone else in a quintet performance - the tuba book didn't make it to the gig, and this was discovered approximately thirty minutes before the gig started. The librarian was called, and immediately grabbed the folder and raced to the gig location. It was time to start, and the first trumpet player was about to tell everyone that the beginning would be delayed. I asked them if this chart was in their folder. (Of course, it was.) We played that. I have played it far too many times to ever possibly forget how the tuba part goes. Thankfully, the librarian walked in as we were playing it.
