For those who have used or at least heard both used in quintet: how much difference in sound? Any extra girth from the c?

Don't know if there is any significant difference between them but I just received our first order of the CC version with the new larger 16 inch bell and the sound quality is a huge improvement. The larger bell gives the horn a more refined sound with less edge and in my initial play tests the sound appears to be broader. Right now we are planning on stocking both models as there is about a 260 dollar difference in the cost so the less expensive model will be a viable option for those looking for the original.

Hey Tom,

Will these be listed on the site soon? I can’t find any on there.

After reading your post again i see you are looking for a comp between the F and CC, i thought it was the BBb and CC. The CC does have a broader sound in the mid to lower register where the f is a little tighter in the upper. The CC body is a little larger overall than the F. At first i thought yamaha used the same body for the BBb, CC and F but the F and CC are actually very different.

In the past I was never a big fan of this CC model or the Jinbao version mostly due to the lack of the 5th valve as a standard. The Jinbao mods i have made to their 420 model make this a different animal with the 5th valve addition as well as a larger bell. I dont think i have ever played a horn that was as fun to play as this one is.

I think we were originally referring to the Yamaha 621's in this thread. Maybe I misread it. But, I'm still hoping Yamaha offers another larger bell option for the 621CC. I would get one for my tuba.

As far as the original question, I only briefly played on the Yamaha 621 F tuba, but I would think that the CC would offer more breadth of sound in the low register. Plus, the 621CC's low register is so easy, it just pops out of the horn.

I thought the YCB621 was a lot easier to play and had a bit of a larger sound, but not overwhelming. Also, as someone else mentioned, the low register is amazing for a horn that only has four valves. You don't have to try at all to get it to speak.
