ITEC vs. IET

So I have never had the opportunity to go to either ITEC or IET and can't afford to do both. I would like to go to at least one of the two options and I know that the cost of IET is more than the cost for ITEC. My question is which would be more beneficial to go to and why? I am a member of ITEA so that isn't an issue either.

Thanks!!

They're both very different kinds of events.

ITEC is more a conference - mostly recitals, presentations, and masterclasses. Unless you're playing in a competition, you probably wouldn't be doing much playing at all outside of trying out horns and mouthpieces. There is a lot to learn and gain from everything there, though, and you'll meet lots of great people there as well.

IET is a lot of playing for everyone there - you'll playing in a large ensemble (100+ people), medium group (30-40) and also a quartet or quintet if you want. In addition, there are tons of masterclasses, and opportunities to get lessons with the artists (who are always top notch).

ITEC's usually has all of the major manufacturers there, plus plenty of mouthpieces and sheet music. Yamaha, Buffet, Jupiter, and Warburton usually show up to IET but not much outside that. However, Euphonium.com always has a setup and that's about the largest collection of euph music you could ask for.

I am attending IET this year. I'm very excited about it.
