I would be concerned like any other cut that the balance between cylindrical and conical tubing would be altered enough to foul up the intonation.

There are plenty more where it came from.
It’s yours, so it’s worth it just to see how it works out.
Some tubas cut easily, some don’t.

I had a flugabone, and thought about putting a 4th valve onto it. Then I had the 2 valves from an old duo-gravis bass trombone and thought about sticking them onto the flug to make it a 5-valve instrument. Then I realized that I hated playing the thing even with 3 valves because my arms got tired holding it up.
Maybe cutting yours to C would make it a bit lighter and easier to play. You could always sell it for more than you would need to purchase a replacement in Bb. I say go for it.

You could add 2 valves and make an open wrap over your shoulder to counterbalance it more like a trombone...

On my Olds, the low range is relatively stuffy compared to the rest of the horn. Not sure how yours is, but personally I wouldn't want to increase the functional stuffy range and lose a few low notes to boot.
