Who are some of the highest paid tuba players/teachers out there? Where do they play and teach? What orchestras pay the most for their tuba players? How do the salaries of the tuba players compare to the ones of the principal flute, oboe, trumpet, and so on?

...Not that anyone would know from personal experience or anything....

Thanks,

Highest earning is probably a better way to phrase it (See no. 3 in my list). This list is a total guess on my part and I wouldn't dare to speculate on dollar amounts. Obviously, accumulated royalties can be substantial.

1) Tommy Johnson
2) Jim Self
3) Chuck Dallenbach

Notice a trend about what orchestras they play in?

If they played in the LA recording studios on movie scores then they make some pretty good money. Plus, Jim Self owns a plane, those aren't cheap.

well in terms of people who have regular gigs plus do well taching I would have to think Chris Hall...since the MET Opera is to my knowledge the highest paying "orchestra" gig there is.

sorry chris if you don't agree
