That's easy-
Seems the thread on the valves for the top cap is only on the valve's metal. They should have added another layer of metal. Seems my horn has the thread somewhat stripped on the third valve and it seems to get loose and sometimes pops out. Rusk warned them but they didn't do it!

I had a CB-50 for years!
It was a fantastic tuba except that the silver plating job was awful. As I got to know more CB-50 owners, I realized that they did crappy plating in general and that I wasn't the only one having problems. I believe that it eventually became a big enough issue that they sent out the G-50s at the end of the line to Anderson's.
The only other problem I had with mine was that the ultra tiny little braces in the 3rd and 4th valve tubing were constantly coming undone. I ended up with all the 3rd and 4th valve braces redone by the time I sold the horn.
Despite all of that, I really liked my CB-50 and it played very well.

i've owened my CB-50 for about a year and love it. i think the compact size and the fact that the bell isn't stuck up way above your head are great features. i would however chance the main tuning slide. it's just too dang short. if you play a little sharp normally (like i do) and you're in a flat ensemble (stupid oboes) that thing is barely long enough to get you in tune and if it's out far enough then it'll fall out. other than that i love the horn.

i want to ask you what you like
The sound.
The position of the valves.
The sound.
General appearance.
The sound.
or dislike
D above middle C.
Low center of gravity (makes my back sore after a few hours).
Short main slide.
or would change
Make the main slide longer.
Make the receiver just a little bigger so my metal Helleberg sits where the Kellyberg does.
The linkage on the rotor (not a problem yet but it worries me).

like: everything including the D above middle C
would change: the pedal regiuster being a little more open. I WISH IT WAS A 5/4 HORN.
