Because the top action valves mean you can set your euph down one direction and your (front action) tuba down the other.

If you're seated next to the Swell ranks of pipes, you could always use the rotary instrument and arrange for the organist to close the Swell shades while you're playing. Problem solved!

C'mon Blokie, do some inoV8in. Take the rotary, hang a mirror on the pipes, turn around with your back to the stick waver and pretend to be an organist or even part of the organ.

It worked well before. To the conductor/music director, your playing the comp euph is a known quantity both visually and aurally. It appears from the post that some of the other musicians are also "regulars" to this type of gig at this church, and you have developed an ensemble feel with them. To change instruments will cause timbre and intonation issues that were previously fixed with the comp euph and will take time to "fix" again if you change instruments.
