My favorite is the one I own.
The model doesn't matter to me. I like the way it plays and sounds.
That's my only reason. I don't care about the valves, size, or finish.
No kidding.... :D :D

My personal most favorite CC tubas: 1970's Hirsbrunner HB-2 and HB-6. Reason: the sound.

My horn: Willson 3050RS CC.

My PT-606 has the sweetest sound I've heard on any tuba that I've ever played so...I gotta go with it. I went shopping for an HB but the 606 stole my heart when I played it.

I wish I could get a chance to play on a restored York, like the one Jim Self owns... http://www.bassethoundmusic.com/hardware.htm

My Yorkbrunner. I couldn't care less about versatility. It plays with so little effort and such a large, full, bombastic sound.

Some may think it's too large for a quintet. That's only if your quintet has four pussies in the group.

It also works great in death metal bands.

I LOVE that horn!! I got to play it at TMEA and the sound and response was just amazing. I would have no practical use for it(or cash for it  )but if I could buy ANY tuba I wanted regardless of size this would be it.

Alexander 163

reasons (my opinions):
a.) Like all Alex players, the sound!
b.) Versitility, I have played it in venues from solo and chamber music to
circus bands and symphony orchestras
c.) The 163 has never held me back; when I failed, it was my fault.
d.) I have never found another tuba that works as well for me, my Alex
163 is like a part of me.

best,
Mark
