I was on the Custom Music website, looking at the online ordering pages. I noticed that if you order a PT mouthpiece, you have to option to have what they call a plastic / nylon rim. Anyone had experience with these. I know people use plastic rims, but I was wondering if anyone had tried these specifically. Feel, quality, flexibility?
Thanks in advance.

I have used a PT44 with a nylon rim. It's very smooth and slick. Almost a soft feel. In cool to cold situations it's fine. However, they are doggone expensive equipment for what I need them for(sousaphone in the cold months). For my money the Kelly plastics are the answer.
I know of folks who use regular PT mouthpieces with nylon rims for allergy or irritation reasons. This may be what you are after. YMMV.

Yeah. I tend to have irritations with silver plating. Gold is OK, steel is really good. I like the sound of my PT 65 with my PT 10 F, but the constant irritation is getting to me. I might have to give one of these a try.
