Helicon questions

I bought a Helicon!

It's in Bb (hurrah!), there don't seem to be any leaks, the valves move, one of the slides moves, possibly 1950s, possibly russian and *very* steampunk!

Can anyone point me at a good video on how to oil rotary valves?

Anyone know where I can get a case for it (Preferably in europe) - could be a challenge as the bell doesn't come off.

One of a series of classic videos that took the mystery out of rotary valves for me

I have no reason to own a helicon other than alumni marching band at the U every 10 years or so. But I want one.

For a well-padded gigbag you can try Couesnon, they make very nice made-to-measure bags for a very fair price.

Do it! I got mine from an antique/junk shop for £300 ($380) so keep your eyes peeled!

I saw one on Craigslist very similar to what you got. (Sacramento, CA) They wanted $900 or so for it. I didn't really consider it because to me it looked iffy. I hope yours plays well.
