Hi Everyone-
I am sure most of you know of Bob (Robert J.) Pallansch, retired Tubist within the Army Band of D.C. and noted repairman of not only tubas, but of antique instruments too.
I talked to his daughter’s today, and he and his wife have moved from their Falls Church home to an assisted living residence last week. Bob had suffered a stroke last year and was doing good, but suffered another one this past February, and his left side coordination and left eyesight have been affected.
One of the nicest people one could meet, Bob has been repairing instruments for me ( I am showing my age) since I was in high school, and my mother would drive me down to the Trailways Bus Station and I would send to Washington my Mirafone CC for him to pick up on his way to work with the Army Band.
I am sure Bob would love to hear from his friends. If you have the time, drop him a card saying hello. His address:

Bob Pallansch
c/o
Brookdale Arlington
3821 Wilson Blvd., Room 615
Arlington, VA 22203.

Tnx so much.
Cheers-
Mark Jones

Thanks for the update on Bob. He has been a mainstay in the DC area forever. I always felt a little bad when he only charged me $15 for a repair that would have been $100 with anyone else.

Mark:

Thanks for the heads up on Bob. When I saw his name as the heading for a topic, I naturally thought the worst. I am glad he is still with us. Bob has done a lot for me over the years. He is a good man. He is a real asset to the tuba community. His repair/customization skills as well as his kind personality will be greatly missed.
