I am looking for some components to help in making new braces for my York Eb project. because I know know the proper terminology let me describe what I am looking for.

Each brace is made up of three mail components. 1. The flat brass that is soldered to the horn after is is shaped. 2. The brass rod that connects the two. 3. And the receiver that is attached to the flat pieces that the rod is inserted into. Number 3 is what I am looking for and can be rather ornate and comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Any thoughts or suppliers.?

That receiver and the flat plate are silver soldered together, so as far as I know, they don't come separately. Each manufacturer has their own styles and makes them on their own. I'm certainly no expert, but I've heard of them simply called "feet" (the flat part and the receiver, as you called them, together).

The main source if you're doing a vintage horn is to just "cannibalize" them off of other horns.

Tubajug is correct - the general term used by techs is "brace feet", and the socket and plate are silver soldered (also called "hard soldered") to be as one unit.

If you're not too picky about the style, they are readily available from Conn-Selmer. They accept 1/4" brass rod, and are rather spartan in appearance, but very serviceable.

I am holding right now waiting on my valve set to get back. I will look at the braces there. I have the original braces for the bugle. Not sure what can be used. The Conn ones look OK too. With the addition of the 5th valve something more will be needed. Time to scrounge around looking. In the mean time, I am advancing my silver solder, brace building skills.
