A violinist playing TWO different Bach trumpets!?
One Mt. Vernon and one Elkhart, maybe? :P
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I thought most Strad violins were bought or owned by consortiums these days and only given to the artist on loan.

I don’t even know how string players afford the bows some of them have!?

I know a patron here in Buffalo just bought the new harp player a top of the line new Lyon & Healy harp...so she would have an extra one...

Question -- are orchestra-owned tubas common is big German orchestras? That's my recollection, but I can't remember for sure.

When I first came to Australia in '71 the tuba players in all of the 8 major orchestras were provided with an orchestra owned tuba; B&H Imperial 4v Eb.

About 20+ years ago, I heard that the San Francisco Opera Company bought a $22,000 cimbasso for the orchestra.
