Hi,

For those that have played them, sound wise, how does the VMI 101 compare to a Yamaha Neo Bb or rotary PT6 tuba or Besson 994? (yes different but what I and band mate not on tubenet am familiar with). Particularly in the low/middle register. Does the VMI have similar 'weight/breadth' down low to those models?

"Less sound"

Not less volume, but the 101 is a 4/4 tuba, and will sound like a 4/4 tuba. Totally classic and a great sound... Just not a huge tuba, and that's ok

These sound like Alexanders, offer very good intonation, a very nice/clear sound, very good projection, very secure in all ranges (including extreme extremes) and only offer the typical intonation issue of a "flat 5th partial" (same as Miraphone 186).
This- not *quite* the same as an Alex, but close enough that it's easy to blend with one (or two, in my case).
