Can anyone tell me what a besson sovereign 981 ee flat tuba weighs in its original hard case?As I have just had emergency surgery to repair a strangulated abdominal hernia I need to pass this information on to my doctor so he can better guide me as to when I can return to playing.

I didn't use my hard case for many years now, but I remember its weight just the same like the tuba alone. That would mean around 19 kg together.

Once you have the information you seek, you could also consider a bag (as one of the sponsors here offers a less-expensive import Eb bag - which you could use during the healing process, and then re-sell here later), and even combine that bag with a lightweight/collapsible two-wheel dolly & bungees.

Some good advice, but even with some really good short term disability insurance, money is a little tight right now. Buying anything tuba related is not an option.I have a rather larger protec gig bag that I use on occasion for my bb flat neo so I think I might just use that. I plan to resume playing the beginning of October so I should be able to use my hard case with my ee flat at that time.
