The Roots on NBC

Have you ever noticed that the sousaphone player for the Roots band on the Tonight Show rarely seems to actually play his horn? Most of the time when they have band breaks, he just stands there and smiles.

If I was part of The Roots, I would probably do something similar, truth be told.

I think he plays more on the numbers the band does off-camera. Apparently their concerts feature a lot more of the horn players.
