Greetings everyone,

I’ve recently acquired a Eastman York and have been in search for a matching mouthpiece.

The instrument will arrive next week, so wanted to gather some ideas from all of you, I know a recommendation of a specific mouthpiece would not work for everyone, though I would also like to know the directions for me in the search of a perfect match for myself.

Jake didn't do a bad job with a Helleberg on the originals. Best bet, start with your usual gear then, if you aren't happy, try something else until you find what suits you.

Loved that mouthpiece on my previous piston horn.

I have been going back and forth between the mouthpiece that comes with the tuba and the Pickett Pharaoh, of which I am using the latter. For me, it has worked well. I have not indeed tried an Olka, but that would be a similar mouthpiece to the Pharaoh as well.

I know that one of John's master students at UW has a new 836 that he has owned since last winter. I believe he plays on the Gidding's John Dicesare contrabass mouthpiece and he likes the sound of it pretty well. I recall there might be some tiny fit issues but I believe that by using a small thin piece of fabric to fill in the gap (can't be more than 1 mm) it is a non issue
