Hi there -

I need to track down the model # of the old Willson 3/4 CC tuba. It has 4 piston valves with tuning slide on top.

Anyone know of this instrument or have one lying around?

What's left of my brain remembers it being a 3000 series number.

Thanks a bunch -

Scott Mendoker
PS - Already tried Ed Stevens at DEG and Willi Kurath and his shop are on vacation until mid-August.

Hi Scott! Jeff Furman, the other tubist in the Long Island Tuba Quartet, is playing on an old Willson CC, that supposedly was a prototype of an earlier model. You might want to contact him. His has 4 pistons, but with a thumb rotary valve and I'm not sure it would be considered a 3/4 horn. It could be considered a smallish 4/4. His email is: jeff.furman@usa.net

Ed had (or has) ad copy describing the Marzan model Willsons. This sounds like one of them--it might be the so-called "solo" model.

Wow, blast from the past...One of these was my first CC. Don't remember the model#. Built like a tank, nice mp-mf sound, stuffy as all get-out.

Scott,

Did you email DEG directly or what?

I want to know as I have an old Marzan/Willson I would like to identify.

Thanks.
