It’s the birthday of Frederic (Frederick) Edward Weatherly (1848 – September 7, 1929). He wrote the lyrics to over 3,000 popular songs, among the best-known of which is the ballad "Danny Boy" from 1913 set to the tune "Londonderry Air". Here’s our traditional jazz rendition of both songs.
