Tuba in original fitted case

Post by Daryl Fletcher »

I thought this was worth sharing. I saw this and took a picture of it at the Whistlestop Antique Mall in Franklin, NC, on the way back home from the Smoky Mountains this week. We often see mislabled instruments on eBay, but it's even more humorous when we see them in real life. The same store also had a clarinet that was labeled as a flute.

I think that the problem that those of us who play instrumental music often run in to is that the general population doesn't seem to know anything about our instruments at all.

"tuba" is the Latin word for trumpet. Maybe that's why it's labeled that way, but i highly doubt it!
