3D printed parts

Has anyone looked into 3D printing/CNC machining for now-discontinued parts? I'm just curious, as I was looking over Yamaha's parts lists, and noticed that some older valve guides weren't being produced any more. If manufacturers kept the dimensions of their parts that they were discontinuing, that would be a valuable resource for someone rebuilding a junked e-bay horn, I would think. But I don't know of any manufacturers doing this yet.
