H W Tyrell Etudes all on YouTube

I’d like to give a shout-out to my good friend William Pemberton on completing a really cool project. In order to focus his daily playing, have something to work on and towards and thus not get stuck in that “practice rut” that we can easily get stuck, he took on a project. He decided to work up and record all the Tyrell etudes. He started with #1 in February of this year and did one a week and posted them on YouTube every Wednesday. It was been fun to check them out every Wednesday. I was very impressed with this for a couple of reasons. William and I work together at a full time job, 40+ hours a week. He lives roughly an hour from our work. In addition to our job, he also is Executive Director and tubist for the River Raisin Ragtime Revue (R4). R4 was quite busy during the period he was working on this Tyrell project. R4 had a concert series, did some touring and made a recording. All this time, William did not miss a week. I know I would have. Equally impressive is how well he plays each one. I know with me, no matter how well I know a piece, as soon as the recorder is turned on, I can easily choke. Apparently not an issue for my friend. You can check out all the Tyrell etudes at his YouTube channel where you can read a better description of why he did this project. Thanks, William. Good stuff!
