I've recently been turned on to 3-M Tarnishshield. It claims to be NON-abrasive, so shouldn't affect the silver plate. It may take a while to get it all, but anything that won't kill silver is woth it. Plus, it's made for silverware, so you can rinse it off with water. When I was doing this stuff back in the dark ages, one had to rinse everything in denatured alchohol (couldn't even drink the stuff). I'm sure you'll get lots of differing responses, but that's what worked for me lately...

This French Horn was in the basement of a music store during a flood 30, years ago, was BLACK before that, and I just started to clean it up last year
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
