Interesting! Certainly makes it easier to fit the tuba in when it opens up like that. I have an older pro-tec bag for my tuba, and it only opens about half of the case, so i've gotta angle the bell in right to get it to fit.

Any idea of the weight of the bag itself? With all the boards and stuff, I would expect it is pretty heavy?

Ordered one for my 184 from Dillon's.
Very reasonable price, and I love it!
Even fits my Marzan slant valve CC!

The 184 does swim in the bag, but that's not how it's held in.
The bell end has a stiff, but padded insert.
You put the horn against it like you're setting it on the floor.
Then lay the horn down in the bag supported by the pad at the bow end.
It's not what I'm used to, but it seems well cradled, suspended and protected.
Yes, I got the one from Dillon's called "SMALLER TUBA BAG - PLATINUM SERIES BLACK".
$181 plush shipping.
I chose the "No Cost" shipping and it got here in two days (of course, Dillon's is in New Jersey and I'm in Delaware... )
I've only had it a week, but it looks like it will accommodate many size horns as long as they're not too tall!
The photo is my 184 CC in it.
