I see the Leviathan posted on Wessex site for sale. Who has had a chance to play it? Would love to hear the impressions of it.

Wow, that's a big one! The rotary change valve is something different, but it definitely does allow a more ergonomic placement than the usual 3+1 piston setup. Main question is, can it deliver the goods.

Definitely interesting. If it can deliver the goods would be a tremendous horn.

Played it or some version of it at NABBA last year. I liked it. The rotor was quite ergonomic for me who hasn't played an upright valve tuba since middle school.

When I had a 2340 3v, I wondered if it would be an easier job to fit in a 4th rotary valve this way rather than grafting in a 4th piston. Maybe would need a linkage by Goldberg but still an interesting idea. Alas, I sold the 2340.

I will see if I can get a demo video for you of the Leviathan.
It is actually in two versions, the TB691 based on the Grand (TB692) body and TB681 based on the Prokofiev (TB693), so if you have played either of those you will have good idea of the tremendous tone and pretty solid intonation. As well as the TB681HP being lightweight of sheet brass and TB691P more heavy being hydraulically formed - the bells are different profile on each, so they will be slightly different tonally. Wessex will be exhibiting both at the Army conference and we will be interested which is preferred.
For your interest here is Leviathan being hand polished at the factory this week

Go to page 2 of the BBb Tubas. It's there.

Thanks. Effectively hidden and hard to find on the web site. Nice to know that there now is a full chromatic BBb tuba weighting less than 10 kg and with 4th valve in reach even with shorter arms.
We wait now in excitement for the first user testimonials ...

Nope, the BBb collection has one page and the usual 12 tubas. At least here in the EU, where prices are marked in Euro. The specific US site may show different, but from DK one can not find the Leviathan on the site by browsing.

I'm on the Wessex site right now and it is the second tuba listing on page 2 of the BBb basses. Is there a different site you are viewing? (a UK or EU site perhaps?)

Yes, when accessed from the UK the link automatically detects your location and switches to the UK version which doesn't yet show the Leviathan.

That is what I am saying, the Wessex EU site has only 12 BBb tubas in the BBb tuba collection, the levithian not being along them.

Please have a look again - I think I have solved. I will confirm showing when I am back in the UK on Monday. The Leviathan shows up from my current location of China.
In any case Wessex is just about to roll out unified website for the whole world - which will hopefully end such issues in the future.
