Dave Morgan recital

Our local symphony tuba player, Dave Morgan, gave a recital recently. On it were both the Vaughn Williams and the Gregson, and Czardas was the encore. Frankly, what he did with Czardas reminded me of Sam Pilafian and stuff he did. It was a marvelous recital and I was totally wowed.
It was a large piston F tuba (5th rotor) and I spied a main slide (?) trigger operated by his left thumb, and I saw some alternate fingerings that were mostly for intonation but sometimes for ergonomics. I didn't see any of the usual slide pulling, and intonation was spot on. I'm wondering what tuba it was, and whether the main slide trigger was a built-in or an added-on.

He's not a really tall guy, and that tuba looked just slightly smaller on him than my NStar does on me in my avatar.
