Brian... TRUE! There is a lot of idle prattle on ANY forum of this type. It's also true that 'mixed in with the prattle', there is often useful information. Gotta wade through it all to get at the good stuff

Well, if it weren't for the old coots, I wouldn't be here. This is the best forum, and the funniest forum, around, period. If I didn't play tuba (well, sorta) I'd take it up just to be able to post my nonsense here, and listen to ya'll's nonsense.
BTW, I really thought I made a post about my trip to WWBW, but I swear, I cain't find the thang. So: I went to WWBW on a Monday a week or so ago, and Roger let me play anything I wanted to. So I did....really liked that 2181 F tuba, which had a low C on it; also of all the CC tubas I played, the 188 was the obvious best choice for me. The Besson I had liked so well last January, played like a tank compared to the 188. So there you have it; I really have no use right now for a larger CC, since my 184 works well both in quintet and brass band (Eb part.) So, since I can't justify buying one, I'll have to get it as a gift. If any of you are hankering to send me a really nice Christmas present, well, I'll accept a 188 under the tree and say Thank You.
Roger of course gave me a tuba lesson (Thanks Roger!) and I got to hear him play some really nice stuff too. Guy can play.
