I’ve got until I am 59 1/2 to talk myself out of buying far too much tuba and getting the 496. That’s less than two years away!!

I also tried the 274 comp euphonium. It's another winner. Period. If I can make it sound great, and so can my beginner-euph stepson, it gets my vote. The response was simply surprising, especially compared to the less expensive model. Definitely worth those few dollars to upgrade.

Would the Packer 274 be an improvement over a non-comp Willson 2704?

Yeah my Willson plays flat, but I have always blamed it on the mouthpiece. How much is that puppy?
I played a 374 last fall at Tuba Exchange and liked it, but I have seen some folks on here say they like the 274 better.

Well dang. I have gone and bought that 274 from Mr. Bloke. He didn't say if the puppy was included. Now I have to learn how to use my left hand for that 4th valve and unlearn 20 years of pinky fingering that thing.

They let you trade your wife for a Euphonium?

I am bummed. FedEx changed the delivery on my new 274 from today to Monday. And I know it is in town already. I guess it would be inadvisable to break into the fedex warehouse to grab it.

I didn’t make it to TMEA (or the Army Band Workshop) this year. I was hoping to get there, but........ I was interested in trying the Wessex CC helicon, even though I’m perfectly happy playing my CC sousaphone (a lot). Karl sounds great on it, but he sounds great on anything. I heard him play trad. jazz on his Nirschl 6/4 CC a few months ago. He plays !!!!
I was also interested in the Wessex or Mack Brass 3/4 CC. Again, I’m perfectly happy playing my Yamaha 621 CC when it’s called for, but I do wish it had a larger bell.
I hope to be able to check TBA this summer.

Now what's the best way for me to remember this when I eventually give in and get a decent euphonium?
