This quote comes from Peter Dobrin the Music Critic of the Inquirer on a recent concert at Saratoga by the Philadelphia Orchestra. Dutoit conducted Beethoven, this snippet is from the revue of the Bartok:

"Substitute player Craig Sutherland laid down a more
velvety tuba tone than has been heard from this orchestra in some time, blending his sound with an especially gorgeous brass section."

Itzhak Perlmann didn't fair as well as our esteemed collegue. Nice to see the tuba player getting props.

As one who gets to hear Craig on a regular basis here in Rochester, NY with the RPO, that is certainly music to my ears!

Does anyone know if he is a member on these boards?

Anyone get a chance to hear Dave Zerkel with Philly this summer?? He played the entire month of July with the orchestra but I never got a chance to go over and hear him......getting married was a higher priority!
