I'm late but IDC I bought myself this beautiful beast after weeks of looking at different tubas, picking, playing, choosing then regretting, picking again, playing again and choosing and rinse and repeat. I played a friend's 186 and coming off of piston to rotary I was impressed how easily they moved and how well the horn played.Thing is though also coming off piston, I've never played rotary, nor do I only know so little about cleaning, oiling and maintenance. I also didnt know that there are different oil weights for the bearings and spindles or the valves. So I'm asking simply this, what name brand and weight of oil do you use for these parts? I heard Hetman is a good brand but I'm not sure. Is it a thinner oil for the bearings and a thicker oil for the valves or vice versa? How long of an interval window to oil and clean everything as needed if I were to play 4-5 days a week? How difficult is it to access the back caps? Bring on the advice and suggestions because besides just my friend who I only see once a week I'm going to need more info on this subject.
