Inquiry about the Wessex brand CC Tuba and Bass Trombones.
I made an earlier post asking about the John Packer line of instruments, and I found that I wasn't completely sold on it. But I was looking for some other options and found the Wessex brand. I'm simply looking for anyone who has played any of the instruments I'll link below, keep in mind that I don't have a lot of money to spend on a $10,000+ horn right now.
Here are the horns: https://wessex-tubas.com/collections/cc ... 2461032269

I'm still in high school so in my opinion these would be good for now, until I get into college. I would recommend watching Chris Olka's video about Wessex Tuba's.
Happy playing!

Perhaps you might want to consider this bass trombone.

Concerning the notion that a certain Instrument might be "good for now, until getting into college"
A good individual horn will get You through College and beyond considering that pro musicians consider them as tools of choice for everyday money-earning activity.
It MAY happen that such an Instrument might no longer fit your particular needs at a certain point.
And that will be a good reason to part with it and get something else.
But that applies to MOST brands and models.
There are few brands the snobbish amateur in me will mark down prior to testing.
Wessex is not one of them.
Shopping for (used) horns, I´ve always made sure I´d have the impression I would never "outplay" an Instrument before emptying my wallet.

Re: Wessex instrument (Wyvern & Bass Trombone)
All that I've played of the Chinese-made instruments imported by attentive U.S. or U.K.-based importers are decent, competent instruments. That at least includes Packer, Mack Brass (including ZO or whatever it's called), Wessex, Eastman, Big Mouth Brass, and Dillon's house brand. But it's an entirely different question as to whether any of these are the right instrument for you. In my experience, there's only one way to know. I would find a way to get to one of the tuba conferences so that you can play as many of these as possible.JakeTheTubist wrote:Inquiry about the Wessex brand CC Tuba and Bass Trombones.

Wessex is not the only brand about which Chris Olka has done reviews.
More important that any opinion here, however, is guidance from your teacher.

I truly cannot figure out why someone would recommend a business that offers no return policy and has the reputation this one does. Totally beyond me.Ace wrote:Perhaps you might want to consider this bass trombone.

I have purchased several instruments from this company and have never had a problem except for an inferior piccolo trumpet for which they promptly authorized return. They do allow returns. The owners of the business are pleasant and easy to work with. Maybe it's because I talk to them courteously. No business owner likes to be snarled at and treated as if they are sub-human.
