St petersburg bb

Post by ds_le_moulin »

hi,

I am interested in St Petersburg bb tuba's bore.

I see the rotary 202 has 21 mm (0,827"). Has it always been like that, or has it been smaller in the old days ? (20th century beginning)

On simonettis page, there is an Eb, but no Bb tubas.

THanks & Cheers

The older, communist-era horns used two bore sizes over the years. The larger of the two was typically higher quality, if I recall. That's the size that carried through when they became Petersburg. I think the smaller bore was 18 or 19mm, I can't remember.
