Looking for Mendelssohn's Wedding March

Post by ai698 »

I have a friend that's getting married in a month and our quintet's playing at his wedding. His fiance wants Mendelssohn's Wedding March with Brass Quintet and Organ. I've looked at the likely suspects like BVD Press, Sibelius Music, Hickey's but no luck. Does anyone know of an arrangement?

Southern has an inexpenisve book of Wedding music for quintet (many variations in instrumentation allowed) and piano or organ:

In the Mendelssohn, the trumpets are the dominant voices anyway--the rest of quintet is going to get drowned out by the organ anyway unless you agree on some sort of antiphonal setting.

Music For Weddings, Vol. 1
arranged by Bill Holcombe
Published by Musicians Publications PO box 7160 , W. trenton NJ 08628
It is however a 1983 copyright so i do not know if this company is even in existence anymore.

The set also includes the Allegro Maestoso from the Water Muisc,
O perfect Love, Ich Leibe Dich and the Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the bride, by Wagner)

There is also a Vol. 2 which includes Trpt Vol, Canon in D (affectionately known as the Taco Bell Canon), Ode to Joy and Prayer from Lohengrin

I think I've convinced him to not worry about the BQ and organ thing. I told him there's several good BQ arrangement of the Wedding March and the organ would be overkill.
