Pt 40 mouthpiece opinions

Hello All,
Respectfully requesting opinions on this mouthpiece before I purchase one. Horn is a 1958 Besson/Boosey New Standard 3v Eb, 15" bell. Currently using a Houser w/solo#2 rim, and a pt 36. leadpipe just changed to 981 for bigger sound. Horn false tones reasonably well from Ab to Eb, and plays well from Eb down to C with current MP's. I'd like a little more ease of use and projection on the bottom without sacrificing intonation on the top end. Planning to purchase a Wessex Champion with step 4th valve and 19" bell in the near future. Perantucci guide says the pt 40 is recommended for German F tuba sound. This is being used in a British brass band, but sound is what you make of it. Thanks in advance. Foggy

I have been playing with my Eb and mouthpieces a lot lately.

I have the PT40S and have used in on a larger Eb 19" bell. My 15" bell only has a small shank, so I haven't tried it. I found it likes smaller mouthpieces. What I typically use on Eb's are wick mouthpieces. 2L/2SL on the 19', 3 or 4 on the 15". I plan on swapping leadpipes too, but getting that done right now is difficult. Back to the PT40, I find I like it on Eb it has a pretty sound, it isn't too big and it is comfortable(good rim kinda like the pt36).

British brass band... Eb tuba to fit in brass band... people have their opinions. To me when I did Brass Band I wanted to be a bigger euphonium on Eb, not a small tuba. I went for a little more broad then most people talk about for brass band, that is why I like the 19" bell. the Pt40 might help broaden and help the 15" bell sound part of the section, and warm not so solo like that some people do. And the Pt40 will work well with the Champion.

I would suggest the PT40 but I also use a 2L. I like the wick as much or more...

Get the RT version, works great on Eb and F-tubas.

I have a RT 40. It gives a very nice centered sound on F tuba and is fun to blow. Mr Tucci is also very nice to do business with.

I've been having great conversations with him via email the last week or so. I wish I could visit him and have lunch--he's got great stories and his philosophies on life are great. He also seems well plugged-in to the tuba/euphonium world, which isn't something you really see with a lot of former full-time tubists.
