Hi all,
Does anyone have experience with the Rudolf Meinl 5/4 Bb Bayreuth (current model) and the previous model? Are there typical differences between these models?
Thanks!

Hi P@trick,
The modern Bayreuth has slightly smaller tapered outer bows, and a different standard leadpipe (although there are a few options). There might be other differences, but those two areas are obvious when you see them side by side.

Thanks Louis. I noticed some small changes to the way they are build, but did not know that the outer bows were smaller. Do you know if there is a noticeable difference in sound and how they play?TheBerlinerTuba wrote:Hi P@trick,

In playing them back to back, I thought the Bayreuth was somewhat better in tune than the 1970s version, but I prefered the older one's sound, and didn't mind having to work for it. I think if you are in good shape, either would be fine.
