question on a solo

Post by tubafatness »

Has anyone played Krishna for Tuba and Percussion, by Raymond Luedeke? If so,is it a good piece? Also, what is the range and difficulty? Any reply would be welcomed.

yep,
I've played it, it's a really cool piece. it was written for Don Harry and at the time I didn't know Don, but I wound up studing with him . I remember it being pretty hard (not impossible, but pretty hard) and the percussion group is something like 9 players or so and we rehearsed it for a few months before performing it. It was a great experience, but you need a really comitted group that is willing to REALLY practice their parts. The range (I think) is middle C down to pedal Ab (the one below pedal C). I don't have a recording (I wish we had made one), I would love to hear it if you wind up playing it. It's really a well written piece and very effective.
