Don't all talk at once, now...

I haven't seen much recently from a member of particular stature, who produced a series of hand detailed Kelly mouthpieces for bling lovers. Now who would not like to have one of those?

Ok, minus the bling... Even with no engraving, it looks beautiful in the matte gold plating. The engravings ... Meh, some are better than others, and no, I don't like them all.

If I were to get it engraved, then obviously... it would be a Bort license plate.

If no input, then maybe I'll have to buy one and report back.



This, the heavy Thein, Monette 98 (in silver, most likely), and a Blokepiece are the next in line. Not quite sure of the order. I like obscure ****, eh?

They have a chat box on their website, and I did talk with Tony for quite some time. He provided me with some additional measurements, etc, and was very responsive. Definitely someone who knows what he's doing with mouthpieces and trumpets... The engraving is just for fun... I do believe the mouthpieces are well-designed.

That said, it almost feels like the Italian version of Monette. And we all know how polarizing Monette is around here...

I have played on one of their contrabass tuba mouthpieces here in Japan. It was only for a couple of minutes at a music store. I personally was not impressed. I felt the inner rim was too wide and the rim to uncomfortable. I felt like there was no contour to the rim just really flat. The mouthpiece as a whole felt too big. I play on a Brass labs Momo custom made mouthpiece that is based off a Laskey 30H to give you an idea of what I play.

Bort, have you tried to figure out how to contact any of these folks?

Avital Handler and Heim Mazar, The Israel Tuba Duo: two models, one for symphonic music and one for general use.

Alan Kaplan: two 33.00mm models, one with standard cup, the other with a deeper one. Both used for his work in the Hollywood music scene.

I have not, but that's a great idea. I've also contacted one other different person that I believe has one of these.

I think that AR can make custom rims...?
