B&S 3/4 CC Tuba? (Left Handed 5th)
Hi. Back when my dad (which some of you may know if you've been in the Army Band Scene for a while) was studying Music Ed at Ohio State, he had some sort of 3/4 B&S CC Tuba with a left hand operated 5th valve. He said it may have been a Symphonie or a Symphonique, but whenever I google it I only get F Tubas. From what I have heard it is similar to a Piggy, and the bell is very short. If anyone has info or pictures of this horn, it would be greatly appreciated.

That is the pre-PT3 B&S Symphonie CC. It had the 5th rotor at the left side, but the later models have the 5th rotor in both ways, and as far as I know It had the graduated bore. I used to have many pictures of those CC Symphonie, PT3 and PT4 but sadly my external hard drive, which all those files were, got delated.

I own a PT3 and love it. It's the 19-21mm version of the old 17-21mm Symphonie model CC but mine is definitely still hand made and features the old ball and socket linkage and blue oval logo but also has a euro shank receiver.
I would be curious to place my horn side by side with the older version to see what's truly different.
Regarding the bell, I used to think that it was the same as the bell on my PT15. They are certainly similar, but not quite the same.

I played an old PT3 in college (engraved as both B&S and Sanders... From Custom Music). I think it had an F tuba bell...?
It wasn't physically large, but it was great. Nice sound and so easy to play.
