Outdoor Band Concert video

Well, our band didn't play a July 4 concert this year because of the pandemic. But, here's a video of last year's concert at Rossmoor retirement center in Walnut Creek CA. (I have a small unit there but my main home, for now, continues to be here in nearby Berkeley where I have lived since 1961.) The concert band is an all-volunteer group, and the retirees (average age 78) love the concerts each year. I think our esteemed board member, Mark Horne, may be playing tuba in this concert.

Anyone else with videos of their bands? It would be refreshing to see them considering the present situation wherein we can't play for rehearsals or concerts. I am concerned that it may be a
long time before things get back to normal.

Happily!
Here is the brass band I play in. You can skip through the swedish bits
Christmas concert 2019 -- our last concert. Was preparing for spring when covid hit :

Our 2019 Fall concert:

I'm second from the right side with the silver horn.
And my work 'dixieland' group:

.. or guess trio is a better term. You'd think in a company with 3,000 people you'd find a drummer, or trombone

The three of still stuck with playing together once a week, then decided to 'surprise' folks at a company event. We just showed up during the pre-conference coffee/food time, set up in a corner and started playing. Folks really seemed to enjoy the surprise! We won't be quitting our dayjob anytime soon tho but man it's a ton of fun

Thanks for your reply and the links, Dopey. That's a nice sounding brass band you play in. In the first link you provided, I really liked the vocal soloists, in particular the blonde soprano. She has a lovely voice. Also, she is gorgeous.

Thanks. Was quite happy to find a 'brass band' so close to where I live. There is other groups which are full ensembles but do a mix of marching/parades, and concerts. I just didn't have any interest in marching with a concert tuba. Also always enjoyed the sound of all brass!
We generally rehearse once a week and play at a few church services inbetween the large 'concerts'. Which from what I can see is usually spring/fall/christmas type style. Always a fun mix. The singers in that one were guest performers, which also seems to be a theme. As well a different conductor each concert season. I only joined them about a year ago.. but considering I have no plans to leave Sweden, and me and my sambo(live together girlfriend but not fiance/not an english word for it) plan to stay in this area long term.. I do hope I am with this group for many years to come.
As the only foreigner in the group, it makes for interesting interactions. Naturally everything is in Swedish. I generally understand what the conductor is trying to convey, and will either get it 100% wrong or 100% right. (i.e. may do allot *more* of whatever he was asking for *less* of

).
Though pĺaying dixieland with a small group is still my favorite type of playing. Music that you can't help but dance/tap your foot to.

Here is a concert from 2 years ago by the Bryan City Band, the second oldest community in the country. We started our 169th season 2 weeks ago. I'm on the end playing my Conn 16J Eb BEAST.

Your band has a LONG history. I'd enjoy seeing an early program which shows pieces played and the instrumentation in use in those days. Thanks for your post.
