Wade, I always appreciate your thoughtful responses (not to mention your excellent repair threads!).

Your recent post regarding playing tuba with an open-bite inspired me to offer this praise though I've long admired your contributions here. Instead of possibly derailing that thread with the long list of others who probably feel similar to me, I decided that this topic deserved it's own place. You are truly one of the greatest assets of TubeNet and a big reason I keep tuning in.

Have to second that, and many others. I'd start to name them, but would fear i'd skip over them.

I joined tubenet back when it was a BBS, as a wide-eye computer geek and tuba player. Back then(and even today) I joined forums for any hobby/passion I had. Tuba was no different. Think I was a sophomore, maybe, in highschool when I discovered tubenet. Even posting as my name 'Jacob Morgan', back then.

Many of those same people, which gave great advice to an aspiring tuba player back then are still here today giving the same advice when asked. Yes most threads can be more off topic than on, but such as the post you referenced. Just invaluable gems of knowledge being shared. Even as life has taken me away, and back, and away and back to playing tuba. Tubenet has been here all throughout and many common faces. Some of the more recent threads made me realize some of these common faces are now in their 60s. I do hope to still see them active here for years to come.

So thanks to all of you. You made an impact on a young 14(?) year old with big aspirations of music education/tuba greatness, and continue to influence a 33 year old returning to playing and just enjoying making music.

I bought a used tuba largely on Wade's endorsement of the model. Paraphrased: "I'd have no hesitation going into the studio with one of these, give me a few minutes to get familiar with it." After I bought it, he removed the post, so I guess it was the wrong model

Lucky for me, everything he said turned out to be true anyway.

I also read Wade’s post about the ‘open bite’ problem and was impressed. Very thoughtful and helpful. Always appreciated the great Christmas arrangements he’s done too.

I too remember Wade’s story about marching in a Mardi Gras parade. Not the six-pack but some ‘unmentionables’ tossed down his sousie.

I'd like to chime in on this one. Like most, I too value the elephant's presence here on Tubenet. Your knowledge, insight, and most importantly, non-judgmental often unfiltered guidance to those of us less in the know is very much appreciated. With posts that are entertaining and not condescending, you have enriched how many of us practice the craft. The Christmas quintet arrangements are icing on the cake.
