Alison Krauss w/Joe Murphy

In conducting an interview w/Joe for an upcoming ITEA journal, I learned of a recent (2017) recording by Alison that utilizes tuba. Turns out, the arranger was a tuba major in college
The track is titled, "RIver in the Rain," and it's on her CD "Windy City." Interestingly, the tuba (Mir 181 F) is used for both counter-melody and the bass line (at different times, of course). Instrumentation: string section, rhythm section, and . . . tuba! Check out the live video (Vevo) version, as it's more "organic" (to quote Joe), and IMO, the tuba is much more audible (than on the previously recorded CD version). Score 1 for Joe and the tuba world! https://youtu.be/aPMaX_p0aoM" target="_blank"
PS
There is a very cool pic that goes along w/this story, but since I don't know how to attach a pic to this post, you'll just have to wait for the fall ITEA journal!
