I'm assuming that you mean a nickel-plated tuba like a St. Pete, not a model in nickel-silver, like certain Alexander models.
Nickel is very tough stuff--you can polish it quite nicely with a good metal polish like Simichrome or Noxon.
Beyond simple polishing, you should wipe fingerprints off the horn, as the oils of the skin react wtih nickel, necessitating more cleanup.
