Rough value of an Old’s brand tuba?

Post by Kris_Da_Bali_Guy »

Hey, I’m new here in general, so sorry if I mess something up but my question is how valuable are Old’s tubas? The model specifically is a 1004G (it’s a 4 valve rotary tuba in BBb) and I’m having it worked on and I originally paid ~800usd for it originally in pretty poor cosmetic but fully functioning condition.

I’m curious how far I should go with this before I’m spending too much on it.

Olds likely did not make your tuba. It's probably an Amati/Cerveny stencil or of Chinese origin. If it plays well... go for it. However.... at $800 you are already getting up to the value of the horn.
