I like the Aria of King Rene, from Tchaikowsky's opera Iolanta. Definitely sad, and a great piece to really milk it if you've got an accompnaist who can match your tempo changes. Available from Encore Music Publishers. I played it this past spring on a Bb tuba.

Just curious, do you want an accompanied piece? If so, what instrumentation? About how long a piece do you want? Heck, if nothing else, I'll write one (I need to practice writing again.)

Best of luck to you.

Hey, Man. The Second movement of the VW can be sad. It just depends on how you look at it. I find that it can be very haunting. That one could work easy.

VAUGHN WILLIAMS CONCERTO! Hey, if you can do it on a BBb, and do it well, you can do it on anything. the 1st and second movements are at the least doable, albeit with some serious work and dedication. Just my .02, Aim high, ya got nothing to lose!

BD? Play Dindi or Chase the Clouds away.

Seriously, you should play the horn solo from the slow mvt of Tchaik 5. That would be perfect for you. The Line.
