Hi folks,
Does anybody know of etude books that are written with an eye toward the “bread & butter” range for F & Eb tubas?
I know any tuba etudes should work, but I am looking for etudes that are focused on the range within the staff, and up to 2 or 3 ledger lines in either direction.
I have found a couple of bass trombone books that seem to fit the bill, but I am looking for more material.
Good musical quality of the etudes is a plus!
Thanks!

Re: Etudes for BASS tuba?
A few years ago I bought a copy of the Kopprasch etudes transposed for Eb tuba. I don't know if they're still available or not.

Re: Etudes for BASS tuba?
I can´t really see a difference to Contrabass tuba literature and have always used my etude books for both F and BBb.
Depends on what You define as "Bread and Butter range"
C below to c above the staff?
- Kopprasch etudes for BBb tuba. (Occasional excursions to pedal register)
- Clarke - Gordon technical studies for bass-clef instruments
- Bordogni etudes are available for trombone and tuba in different octaves. It won´t hurt to use both interchangeably for reading experience.
Just be creative and find lower etudes to take an octave higher or vice versa as it may fit Your progress.

Re: Etudes for BASS tuba?
I would suggest getting either the original version for horn or maybe the version for bass trombone. If you get the Robert King version for tuba, it will likely not be what you are looking for on bass tuba. It appears to have been transposed/arranged to be more applicable for contrabass tuba.

Re: Etudes for BASS tuba?
To be honest, look at Low Etudes for tuba on Bass tuba, and trombone etudes. Learn the acrobatics required for long range bass tuba playing, you never know when you're going to be playing a quintet gig in a small space and have 1 lick that would be better on a big horn. Know how to navigate that register on the higher horns.

Re: Etudes for BASS tuba?
Best studies I ever used were the good old Arban 14 (treble clef read as bass with 3 flats) for normal range and the Bach cello suites as written for cello for higher work and musicality. Those together with Blazovitch etc give you 4 octaves and weird keys. The Bach flute partitas really stretch your musicality breathing and fluency - but you must decide which key to play them in. There are various versions available for trumpet, Eb sax and bone.
